Vlad Shevchenko
I create original artwork that explores perception, memory, structure, and emotion. Living with Retinitis Pigmentosa has become an integral part of my creative process challenging me to continually discover new ways of seeing and expressing ideas through art.

About me
My artistic foundation was built upon my years at the Kyiv College of Industrial Arts (KHPT), now known as the Mykhailo Boichuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative-Applied Arts and Design. There I learned the discipline of drawing, composition, and the importance of studying the great masters—not to copy them, but to understand the principles behind their work.
After many years away from painting, I returned to watercolor with a renewed appreciation for those same foundations. Today, my work combines that classical training with ongoing experimentation and a commitment to continual learning.InfluencesMy artistic development has been shaped by the work of Mikhail Vrubel, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, John Ruskin, and Gwen John, whose approaches to observation, atmosphere, structure, and expression continue to inspire my work.
I am especially grateful to my teacher, Andrian P. Babiuk (Андріан Павлович Баб’юк), whose guidance strengthened my artistic foundation and encouraged both technical discipline and independent creative thinking.
